James Manning is a Senior Creative | UI/UX Designer and Content Creator with over 20 years industry experience in Sydney, New York and Canberra. Since 2004, James has been the Creative Director with Middleton, Manning & Company, responsible for creating content for clients that includes news releases, corporate profiles, biographies, web and publication content and all aspects of UX/UI and visual/graphic communications.
Middleton, Manning & Company works with such clients as InterContinental Hotels Group, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Four Seasons, NUO Beijing, Indigo Hotels, Marriott Hotels, Australian Wool Innovation, Belmond, Goodman Fielder, Volkswagen Group Australia, Champion Apparel, Lovable, Meat & Livestock Australia, Plymouth Gin, Torch and Cointreau.
Prior to this, James was a Senior Creative with established New York agency, Mecca Studios and Patterson Partners Adcafe in Sydney. James has also served as Senior Creative at PhD Creative. As the BTL Agency for McDonald’s Australia & NZ, James assisted the Design Director in leading the Creative Team responsible for the rollout and design of POP and below the line communications for this iconic brand, including all photography, copywriting, campaign copy and branding. The task was enormous, having to navigate the UX aspects of customer delivery both in the digital space and at point of sale.
Whilst in New York James worked with The New York Knicks, New York Rangers, Hasbro, Disney, Baby Einstein, Frédéric Fekkai, Sirius Satellite Radio, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC and Nintendo Pokémon whilst at Mecca Studios.
James’ design consulting has seen him collaborate with many clients in Canberra. Over the last 12 months, James has been working as a UX/UI Design consultant with Threesides Marketing in Canberra, with clients such as ACT Health, Canberra Girls Grammar School, VisitCanberra and Yass Valley Council. Other clients include Bisa Hotels, Tennis ACT, CCS, CSCAP, Ottoman Restaurant, Agostinis Restaurant, Australian Food and Grocery Council, Moppity Wines, Lonsdale Street Roasters, Caroline Buchanan and Sound Advice.
James works with several large-scale clients on developing social media marketing strategy and campaigns, whilst devising creative and copy to capture and maintain the imagination.
Currently James is illustrating the high-profile GENIUS book series for Macmillan Publishing in New York and is constantly working with inspiring people on creative projects.
James’ copywriting credits include news releases, corporate profiles, biographies, corporate stories and campaign copy for McDonalds Australia, Vogue Australia, Four Seasons, Karma Group, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Alila Hotels and Resorts, Hotel Indigo, InterContinental Hotels Group, Orion Expedition Cruises, East Hotel and St. Regis Hotels and Resorts. James has composed copy for websites, including East Hotel, Lonsdale Street Roasters, Tiger Palm Bali, Manta Restaurant and Nielsen Park. James is also working with Mexico/New York producer Leopoldo Gout (Molly’s Game) on screenplays and other writing projects. James consulted with InterContinental Hotels and Resorts China to proof and copy-check English language versions of materials for their China based properties, as well as provide original content for brochures.
